Our Careteam

Kayla Noel

Practice Manager and Registered Veterinary Technologist

Kayla grew up with a Sheltie named Sunny, and it was the countless hours playing with and caring for him that first inspired her to help pets. She has always felt a natural inclination to fix things that were broken, and as she got older, her interests in anatomy and physiology started to blossom. For Kayla, caring for pets professionally in the veterinary field was simply the only choice that made sense!

Kayla is from the Transcona area of Winnipeg and spent many hours during her teenage years volunteering with her family’s veterinarian, learning the ins and outs of the veterinary profession hands-on. She graduated from Red River College’s Animal Health Technology program in 2010, then transferred here to Sage Creek Animal Hospital from a “sister” clinic to serve as Head Technician upon the clinic’s grand opening in April of 2013. Now, Kayla serves as the hospital’s Practice Manager! She’s especially interested in neonatal care—Kayla even volunteers with rescue groups to care for orphaned puppies and kittens—and is also fond of pet nutrition and likes helping pet owners choose the right diets for their animal companions.

When she isn’t helping to ensure things run smoothly here at the hospital, Kayla enjoys horseback riding, waterskiing and wakeboarding—she even spent two years on the Waterski Wakeboard Manitoba Board of Directors!—and spending time with her family and pets at home.

Kayla lives on a 10-acre hobby farm east of Winnipeg with her husband, Jack, and their young daughter, Rose. (The family is thrilled to welcome another child into the fold in the very near future!) Kayla and her husband share their farm with a multitude of animal companions: a pair of Quarter horses named Storm and Neptune; an Australian Shepherd, Max, who Kayla adopted during her second year of Veterinary Technician schooling; a loving Shepherd/Malamute mix who goes by Moose; two cats named Saturn and Jupiter; and a host of pigs and chickens.

Melissa Turnbull

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Both of Melissa’s parents worked in the human healthcare field, so she’s been interested in the medical sciences ever since her earliest days. Coupled with a lifelong adoration for the earth’s creatures, a career in the veterinary world simply made sense! Melissa is proud to help pets live happier, healthier lives on a daily basis as a Registered Veterinary Technologist.

Melissa grew up on a honey farm three hours southwest of Winnipeg, where she and her family kept everything from pigs, chickens, cats, and dogs, to hamsters, a guinea pig, and fish. She attended Red River College in Winnipeg to study in their Animal Health Technology course, even serving as Class President and graduating with honors. Shortly after her time in school, Melissa joined the Sage Creek Animal Hospital family—she’s been here ever since.

Medically, Melissa enjoys the challenges of placing IV lines and completing dental cleaning procedures. She never tires of hearing before-and-after stories of pets who have been revitalized after a thorough teeth cleaning! Melissa also likes discussing animal care techniques with pet owners.

In her time away from work, Melissa can be found baking and decorating cakes and cupcakes, cheering on her beloved Winnipeg Jets, and spending time at home with her boyfriend and their cat, Maple. Maple even has her own Jets holiday sweater!

She’s always wanted to do everything in her power to better the lives of animals—Kaitlyn gets to do just that as a Veterinary Assistant with the Sage Creek Animal Hospital family!

After high school, Kaitlyn completed the Veterinary Office Assistant course at Robertson College, securing a position at a nearby veterinary clinic before she had even graduated. She worked with pets there for five years before transferring to one of Winnipeg’s top doggie-daycare facilities. Kaitlyn is proud to have been a member of the team that opened the city’s first Canine Wellness Center, and she even became certified as a Canine Hydrotherapist during her time there!

In the spring of 2017, Kaitlyn joined the Sage Creek Animal Hospital team as a Veterinary Assistant and has been helping the area’s pets and animal owners here ever since. Her favourite part of the job is working alongside a team of compassionate, skilled animal lovers just like herself.

Kaitlyn’s interests outside of veterinary medicine include adding great records to her vinyl collection and spending time with her family and pets at home. Sabrina Roscher

Veterinarian Assistant

Sabrina loves working in the veterinary field because it serves as the perfect combination of everything she’s passionate about: animals, medicine, an opportunity to help families, and even behavioural and psychological aspects. As a Veterinary Assistant with the Sage Creek Animal Hospital family, she gets to spend time around the pets she loves while improving others’ lives at the same time!

Sabrina was born in Germany and lived there until she was 16 years old, when her family relocated to Winnipeg. She initially studied child and youth care and received a diploma through a local program, and then decided to switch career paths after her own dog fell ill. Sabrina knew that she wanted to help others’ pets through the power of medicine! She registered for the Veterinary Office Assistant program at Robertson College, undertaking six months of coursework and a month-long practicum placement, before graduating as a Veterinary Assistant. Sabrina continued to volunteer at her practicum placement before joining the Sage Creek Animal Hospital family in the fall of 2016, and she’s been a member of the clinic family ever since.

One of Sabrina’s favourite parts of her job is the variety it offers—on any given day, she might be helping out with a surgical procedure or greeting a new client at the front desk. She also loves developing bonds with patients and pet owners over the years, and she likes helping to educate clients on the best possible care techniques for their animal friends.

Away from work, Sabrina enjoys reading great books, playing video games, and spending time with her own pets at home. She has a rescued Labrador/Border Collie mix, Coco The Black Pearl, who enjoys learning new tricks and going for her daily walk in the dog park, as well as three adorable and rambunctious degus named Sam Winchester, Damon Salvatore, and Castiel.
